Even though it's all unrehearsed, the band members know where the music is going, and help it get there, acting as a whole. They must have some sort of telepathic link. This must be Miles' most underappreciated recording... you have to be completely insane to listen to two songs of forty minutes each consisting of improvisation leaning at times towards ambience, but 'completely insane' is a banner under which I proudly identify.

Fuck what all the critics say about this period, it was just that it went over their heads.

The way Miles plays his first solo and the guitar chords behind him...beautiful...and Al Foster really is in tune with the mood.

Masterful music ! Long live the Miles

the most important part of so-called jazz is improvisation -- everything else is secondary. and here we have true improvisation -- a coup de grace to the stale and hackneyed be-bop melodies and the reaching out to musical ideas yet to be discovered
Are these tracks you posted with the Japanese remastering or the US one? Thanks.
