This is a guest pilot program offered by Airship Ventures in Moffett Field ,CA. An interested pilot needs at least a private pilot's certificate and current third class medical to qualify. Anyone meeting these criteria will have a unique and satisfying experience flying the only zeppelin operating in the US! (Others currently in service are in Germany and Japan )The gentleman in the left seat is one of the guests along with five others taking turns at the controls(aproximatly 30 minutes each). The total duration of this flight was actually four hours flown entirley in the trafiic pattern at Moffett Field. Each guest was alowed to perform two take offs ,two landings and some standard rate turns aloft at 1000 feet .The pilot in the right seat is a flight instructor employed with Zeppelin NT in Germany. The female pilot is also an instructor from Great Britain.

  • Well said divisioneight.Still very vivid memories of that day.It was quite relaxing to to leisurely walk about the cabin and look out the windows. It was most fun conversing with Kate and Fritz during the flight about aviation subjects as well as other light conversation.

  • It was great time indeed. If you've ever piloted an aircraft,it's far different than say a light airplane. Even with the state of the art fly by wire flight controls it still takes time to manuever. The older blimps such as the Goodyear use just rudder pedals to steer and a large wheel by the pilot's seat on the right to pitch up and down.Adjusting the ballonets are used to balance the ship.If you are a licensed pilot ,it's ride well worth the expense.

  • When's the last time you could get up out of your seat, wander around the aircraft, and chat with the pilots while looking over their shoulders? This is the fun, the adventure and the glory of air flight, as it once used to be, as it should be.

  • Great video. Would really like to fly the Zeppelin NT even for just a day. Hope you had great time!
