What more can be said? Brel said it all. I have the answer to the idiot question 'name five famous Belgians': Belgium produced one Jacques Brel, which is more than the rest of the world put together, and that's with its hat on. This is song and lyric with a big heart and a big soul. It doesn't matter at what point you cut it, this voice bleeds true. It is in touch with the human roots that feed music and poetry and art and everything authentically, definitively human. And it has guts.

Reminds me of being a little kid. I didn't even grow up with it either.

Was listening to this while walking on the street. Felt like twirling around while listening to this.

What more can one say that hasn't already been said about this man? He is absolutely amazing. This song, like many of Brel's compositions, has been a favorite for a long while. Check out the "live" version of this track (Live Odeum October, 1966). The live rendtion of "Fils de," is even more intense than the studio version. Nothing can compare to this man when he performs live. Check out the live version. Brilliant song, brilliant composer, brilliant performer. Brilliant.

How can any artist be better than him? He died of lung cancer at 50. Why?

quand on suit les émissions sur les chaines de télévision françaises on éprouve de la honte si comme si ces chaines s adressent à un public de cons de femmes de ménage ou de secrétaires de bureaux. dommage.
