I made a makeshift solar filter from a Pop-Tart wrapper (aluminized plastic) so that I could film a solar eclipse with my DSLR. The optical qualities of the Pop-Tart wrapper obviously aren't very good, but I think that it is good enough for my purposes.

The sample video was taken at 1/4000 second, F/40, ISO100. As the sun approaches the horizon I was able to use 1/60 second, F5.6, and ISO400.
