An endangered western pond turtle gets a tickle on the chin during a medical exam at Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo.
This turtle was discovered by a family on the side of a road in Edmonds, Washington and brought to Woodland Park Zoo for veterinary care.
Zoo vets gave the turtle a full check-up and the turtle received clearance to be released into a protected wild habitat to join the breeding population of native pond turtles in Washington state.
This is a great success story for conservation, as the turtle will now help strengthen the gene pool of an endangered species that is making its way back from the brink of extinction in Washington state!
