This is something a bit more serious from Gilbert , once again doubting the existence of God as he did in " Alone Again ( Naturally ) . Although this track has never been released on any single or album, it was made available by Gilbert as a free download for his fans a couple of years ago. It`s a thought-provoking song that has never been recorded in a studio and very rarely performed live . This performance is from an Irish TV show from around 1976/77 . This is for those of you who may have missed it when it was available.

A lot of his lesser known songs are just as good ( sometimes better ) than his popular ones. People need to delve a bit deeper than just the " Greatest Hits " albums ......

Yes it`s a clever song actually, it doesn`t really make any conclusive statement - it just poses the question ( perhaps THE biggest question of all ) and then leaves the listener to decide for themselves.........

That's exactly what I liked so much about Gilbert O'Sullivan; he could write real pop songs, but also songs with so much meaning in them.

yes i agree with you - and it`s interesting that this the second song where he apparently refers to his mothers death, and yet she is still alive !
