This is a project from the Advanced Typography III course at the Carnegie Mellon School of Design.

Our client for this project was Propel Schools (propelschools.org), a not-for-profit charter school organization in Southwestern Pennsylvania whose mission is to provide all children with access to high performing public schools. The assignment was to create a posters, a short video, and one other artifact, all themed around the mission and vision of Propel—transforming public education. The initial research for this project involved pairing up with a student at Propel, getting to know them and their school, touring the facilities, and talking to the Propel's Director of Development, Superintendent, and Chief Academic Officer.

My project focused on driving home the positive things that happen at Propel by showing that the prefix "PRO-" is built into the name of Propel itself. One problem that Propel has encountered is the resistance to growth and expansion, and the goal of my design concept is to communicate that charter schools are good for students, good for the community, and good for the nation.

The posters, videos, and pieces were on exhibition at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts at an evening gala event on October 20, 2009.
