This video was created by my own videos and pictures of beautiful Vancouver while visiting this city in April 2007. I will write a brief description of Vancouver, but first the singer.
The singer is non other then Orhan Gencebay, who you ask?
Orhan Gencebay was born August 4, 1944 in Samsun, Turkey as Orhan Kencebay. He is a Turkish musician and actor.
He started learning to play the violin, mandolin and baglama (Traditional Turkish guitar) at the age of 6.
During his high school years, he performed in Classical and Traditional Turkish Folk Music. He then entered the Turkish conservatory in Istanbul.
In the late sixties he collaborated with a wide range of musicians and film music. In 1968, he released his first single titled "Sensiz Bahar Gecmiyor / Basa Gelen Cekilirmis" translated to english meaning "Fall season does not pass without you".
Throughout his career he performed leading roles in 36 movies, he has been the composer of 90 movies and 15 albums, His albums sold over 65 million legal copies.
The city of Vancouver is ranked highly in worldwide "livable city" rankings for more than a decade according to business magazine assessments.
Canada's national statistics agency estimated the population of the Vancouver metropolitan area to be 2,328,000 as of July 1, 2009.
Vancouver has been called a "city of neighbourhoods," each with a distinct character and ethnic mix. But, Chinese are by far the largest visible ethnic group in the city, and Vancouver has a very diverse Chinese-speaking community, with several dialects represented, including Cantonese and Mandarin.
I will leave it at that for now.
