I hear parts of "Long Ago Far Away" melody here and there: 1:38-1:40, 2:05-2:14, 4:02, 4:40, 5:35, 6:16, etc. I feel like he is stretching out with the 2 or 3 notes of the "Long Ago Far Away" melody all over the place. It remind me of what current Wayne Shorter quartet does. Very organic, story telling, and never leaves the moment.
I think it's an improvised piece... In 2007 he played in his record "Solo in Mondsee" , Variation II the part that goes from minute 7 to the end... So, I really don't know what it is, or if his Mondsee Variation is inspired in this improvisation. It doesn't matter, Paul Bley is the best.

All improvised - connecting occasional stream of conscious melodies - tune at the very end refers to Ornette Coleman's "Latin Genetics."

it is an improvised piece in which he incorporates known material. It is done all the time in free improvisation.
