Yes. Sucking your finger while wearing the braces will ruin the process. I used to suck my thumb, and thats why I'm wearing braces now! Wait until you stop sucking your finger before you get braces.

Omg, 12 cavities! I feel so bad. The dentist place you were going to was ripping you off, because I was charged $180.00 for a composite filling with insurance. I remember when they used the cavity finder equipment on me, and I found out I needed two fillings. I thought that was a lot to me. I can't imagine how you feel. You got all of you're cavities and fillings done before invisalign, right? They made me take care of that before, so the cavities developed during treatment?

They didn't recommend anything to me before I got my braces. They only asked if I wanted a cleaning. I feel like they knew all along that I had all those cavities, but they just waited until I was almost out the door to bring it to my attention! It's so crazy....

Craving and chewing ice is a sign of anemia (iron deficiency). Dummmmb about your cavities!!!...I'm not even half-way through my treatment and I'm sure the same thing is gonna happen to me arghhh

They might give you a discount because you're paying out of pocket. An ob/gyn doc I used to go to gave a discount for out of pocket payers.

You made me feel better at least i know i'm not alone. I just found out i have a million cavities. How many did you have filled before invisalign? I'm considering invisalign too but i've heard a lot of people say they got a lot of cavities during their invisalign treatment time.

The minerals in the saliva re-mineralize the teeth. If they are covered in plastic all day, how can they re-mineralize?

Not brushing your teeth twice a day, and flossing will give you cavities. Dry mouth will give you cavities, since the spit in your mouth benefits your teeth nutrients and enzymes in order to break-down plague on your teeth. Diet consist of large amounts of sugar will give you cavities as well, because the sugars are harboring bad bacteria when not cleaned regularly leads to cavities. I use a toothpaste with xylitol ( Biotene, Toms of Mane, JASON ), Glide and Listerine. Never felt better
