Fatal Fire on Hill St, Biddeford, Maine

Footage of the fatal fire on the corner of Hill Street, across from the Biddeford and Saco Mill in Biddeford, ME. A segment of this video was used on air by local news stations WGME Ch. 13 and also Ch. 8. NECN was going to use it, but the copy of a copy didn't play well with their editing system.

As exciting as it was to see, and be a part of breaking the story with Ch. 13's 6 o'clock news team (I did a phone interview from the scene as the crews were having troubles getting to the location) - in reality none of that matters. It was announced that not only was the fire fatal, the fatality was a very depressed man who chose to commit suicide by dousing himself with gasoline.

To his family, my prayers go out to you. To those displaced from their homes, losing almost everything they owned, I am glad you are alive but feel for the situation you are now forced to be in. I hope that you receive the assistance you need, and can soon settle into a new home and perhaps feel safe again. Fires destroy lives in so many ways, we can only hope that something good can rise from the ashes.
