They were the dreaded forces on the fringes of civilization, the bloodthirsty warriors who defied the Roman legions and terrorized the people of Europe. They were the Barbarians, and their names still evoke images of cruelty and chaos. But what do we really know of these legendary warriors?

From the frigid North Sea to the Russian steppes, this ambitious series tells the fascinating stories of four of the most fabled groups of fighters in history, tracing 1,000 years of conquest and adventure through inspired scholarship and some of the most extensive reenactments ever filmed.

Mongols rides with Genghis Khan and his descendants as they sweep from Asia to the heart of modern Germany in a frenzy of expansion.

  • Genghis Khan - Greatest military commander in history

Mongol Empire - Greatest empire ever.

  • 10:43 there`s no wood on the steppe??? R U S2PID BITCH...There`s no wood??? Archery? How did they do it??? DAVID COPERFIELD helped them???

  • @gorilla1003 wrong, and the answer is in your answer already - they have the same sentence structure, although they write with a differen alphabet or hiroglyphs its about the sentence structure and grammar. swedish and german aint the same either, but still the grammar is a like - which counts them into Germanic languages, same with korean, tatjik, turkish and mongolian.

  • @jeronvdlaan Tibetian and Tajik have nothing to with altaic languages. Also, Korean and Japanese are very different from the others. There is barely a link except the sentence structure.

  • part 3) The only line which Mongols and Turks share these days, and so do the Tajiks, Kazhaks, tartars, Uzbeks, Tuvans, Kyrgyzs, Seljuks, Tibetian, Uyghurs, Koreans, Japanse and Turksman, is the language - NOT THE BLOOD LINE. over the years and due to trade and Mongolian Empire, Seljuk Empire, Golden Horde, Hunnic Empire and so on and so on. they started speaking a commen language - called the Altaic Languages. (official name) (it even includes Korean and Japanese) so NO BLOODLINE !

  • part 2) The Huns and Tartars are a Northern-Mongol race but do not share culture or bloodline with the Mongols themself. ofc, Understand that when tribes fight and conquer new land, they mix up with locals. The Huns are best represented in todays Hungary or Finland. and are part of a sub-Turkish ethinic group called Finno-Ugric. todays Turkey is called Anotolian-Turks and share bloodlines with Kazaks, Uzbeks, Tatjiks which share lines with the Tartars. (who foughts wars against Mongols)

  • All you people here who claim Mongols are Turkic are idiots, the Mongols are not part of the Turkish-ethnic group. they are part of the Sino-Mongoloid race (present Korea, China, Mongolia, Japan, Tibet.) the Turks are decendent from Tartars just like the Huns. only the Uyghurs. Tuvans & Kyrgyzs are a mix of Mongolian and Turkish Culture & bloodlines. to complete your dream - The Mongols even fought a War against the Turks (Seljuks)

  • and don't forget to hit a thumbs up if you agree with me!
