2012 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 Laguna Seca being shown off at the 2011 Sac Auto Show (11/13/2010).

How do you amp up a performance car package as complete as the new 2012 Mustang Boss 302 - already a street-legal race car in its own right? Pull out everything that doesn't make it go faster and add in more of what does. The result is the limited-production Laguna Seca package - the ultimate 2012 Boss, named to commemorate the first-place Boss 302 finish at the 1970 Trans-Am series opener.

"The Laguna Seca package puts a race-ready version of the new Mustang Boss 302 directly into enthusiasts' hands," said Mark Fields, Ford president of The Americas. "Laguna Seca isn't intended for Boss buyers who simply want an exhilarating daily driver. Think of it like a factory-built race car, which we hope avid racers and track-day fans are going to love."

Boss Laguna Seca builds on the bumper-to-bumper improvements found on the standard Boss while further stiffening the chassis and installing an aerodynamics package carried over almost in its entirety from the Ford Racing Boss 302R.

"Drivers who know how to get the most from a tuned race car on a closed course are going to be amazed by what the Laguna Seca is capable of," said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development. "The balance, agility and tuning of each vehicle system places the driver at the center of the machine, completely connected to everything the car is doing."

  • dream car...

  • @SOFSoldier1; also, some people like to turn corners

  • and if you want to actually carry passengers..or something bigger than a purse...the 2011 SRT8 Hemi Challenger is 470 factory rated horsepower, 432 to the RW (about 508-527 hp at the flywheeel) and runs 12.44......in luxury.

  • @TheWheelman1970

The Roush is nothing but supercharged GT with a couple of suspension mods and an (arguably) ugly body kit. The Boss is a naturally aspirated **forged** 5.0 with revised cams, heads, valves, ect. That extra 500 rpm at the top and lower front end weight(Roushcharger probably weighs 50+ lbs.) goes a long way to make it a much better track car.

  • @TheWheelman1970 I think I would prefer the Roush version as well even though this is still bad ass.

  • If you like this Boss - then you should see the Roush 5XR siting in our showroom. Will eat the Boss's lunch and dinner baby... 1 of 150 in North America.

  • i could not get this close to this car with out touching it

  • as long is it's american muscle i'll take it any day, i luv fords and chevys. i'll take a ford or chevy over an import any day. u know one thing i luv about vettes is that the power is smooth, the mustang is jerky and not as smooth. but i also luv the sound of a mustang's engine over the vette's, goes to show you that each different brand has it's pros and cons drive one that you like.

  • @tuugfo really they made suspensions in 1750 lol, it can corner like it's on rails. the new 5litre gt beat out the new bmw m3 around the track for for a slighter quicker lap time so i doubt it you can do that without a proper suspension setup LMFAO. even if you have a powerful engine you need good suspension suspension for cornering, and the m3 is a pretty tough german made contender, but the stang proved it on the track. the corvettes are are really good in the power and handling department too

  • @Lally0011 its got a live rear axle and a suspension from the 1750's it cant corner for shit id rather have a base corvette which has been proven to eat gt500's
