  • if this ain't one of the greatest episodes of air thru a brass pipe i've ever heard then the only thing better would have been to be there to witness it

  • Thanks Louis for posting this, this guy and this band are missed. This made my day.

  • brecker's solo in the start is sick the eighties is where i like michaels playing the most

  • I saw this band, once with Don Grolnick and once with Eliane Elias

  • It's really to bad that Gronlnick didn't perform this cut on the Steps Ahead album on the Musician label. Elaine Elias is on it and while she's OK it would have been nice for the group to hear what he would have done.

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Peter is the only guy who could match Gadd's genius in this band. Did you hear Smokin' in the Pit? This was a live Steps Ahead recording in Japan with Gadd on drums and is one of the best fusion recordings of all time, IMHO. But Erskine added a different dimension to this band, and it was equally hip. I saw him live in 1982 at a jazz club (in Hawaii!) and he was absolutely amazing! I will never forget his playing!

  • I just love this band. Peter's taking over the drum chair from Steve Gadd gave it more dexterity and dynamics with colors, sound, etc. But Gadd's groove and pocket playing was also key. They main ingredient of the rhythm was the late Don Gronlnick, a great composer and pianinst. He fit right in with Mikey and Mike. Unfortunately for this band he had to do on the road with James Taylor for so many years. Love this Grolnick tune!

  • Mi "STEPS" (AHEAD) preferido.

Más, con Steve Gadd on drums.

Erskine es maravilloso....pero yo los conocí y los vi en NY, con Steve.

    7th Av South...........mágico.

    Grolnick......demasiao!!!!

  • I don't think this was in 1982. It is possible that it was, but I can remember seeing other videos and pictures where he was bald from this time.

  • Great,thanks a lot!!!
