Elephant with a hole in its head

This wild elephant seemed fine but had this big hole in its head, presumable from a fight with another elephant. It made him look a bit weird! The one eye is also damaged, possibly blind.

It's probably a survivor of a poacher attack. I've also heard that some African dictator tried to kill off a bunch of elephants at some point. So it also might be possible that the elephant is a survivor of that incident.

the place tho hole is, is more likely a gun shoot, saw some like this on animal plannet

i hope the hole is not due to the cause of an animal called human as its sickening to think... why would anyone harm an elephant...
