@songplugger Thanks for that, Songplugger, though I have no idea who you mean by "that" Martha Steward
-
@Poopingbotham : That's Martha Stewart - no, not *that* Martha Stewart :^) - a nifty little singer-actress who made a few films in the mid-'40s.

Superbly crafted (dare I say "wholesome") entertainment that certainly buoyed the spirits of an America still held in the grip of a world at war. Truly great stuff!

"A friend of mine, in a B29" Ha ha, brilliant line, that one!
Who's the chick?

Say Hubba Hubba Hubba to a Jap and he'll chase you for miles!

@loocee95 Great song. In tune with the times. Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, so US was kicking ass. Perry had another name playing record later "What Did Delaware?" And I think the ending was "dig ya later, alligator," which was a reference to a Bill Haley song. :)

It would be a better tune, if it didn't have the racism in it.

also to the people saying we can't impose political correctness on all of history, i couldn't agree more. It's not so much that i find this song in any way offensive, you can't live your life being offended by everything. It's just in the light of modern history, the cold war, etcetera, the song takes on an unintended but really poignant side to it. it's like mankind was teetering on the brink of an even more dangerous world and didn't even know it yet...

It goes to show that the ladies needn't appear in a state of undress to be extremely appealing
