Electric President: Explanatory

Most of this video was filmed in my backyard. I wanted to shoot everything for these videos at night, without any real background to the scenes, so Mark suggested we work outdoors with spot lighting. We could tell from the first test shoot that it was going to work, which was a relief. It meant we wouldn't have to scout around for locations too much, or deal with too many outside interferences (or police).

I set aside a budget of $200 for the five videos. The bulk of that money went to the 17 desk lamps I bought. The rest went towards masks, objects to set on fire, candles, light bulbs, and other small props. Some of the other props were things I'd been saving, like the piano. That piano died on me a couple months back. I'd planned on setting it on fire, just to see what it would look like, but once we started talking about these videos, I figured we might as well film it. I'm glad we did. It looked really pretty, I thought. Particularly the smoke.
