RARE footage of The Blue Angels in their Grumman F-11s, which they flew from 1957, to 1969.

Very fond memories of being at the Moffett Field Airshow in Sunnyvale, CA during the mid/late '60s as a young lad, and watching them perform, along with the Lockheed P-3 "Orions".

The "Tiger" was a bit of a "Dog" compared to the F-8 Crusader, and although flying with the Blues for many years, she did not last long as an operational fighter, being phased out of front line service by around 1961.

However, the aircraft was used in the training command in south Texas, Beeville, & Kingsville, until the late 1960s.

Watch for F9F Cougars, F-101s, F-102s, & TV-2 "Seastars" as well!

  • This is way to AWESOME!!!!!! The Blue Angels KICK ASS!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!

  • Very nice video. This is very rare footage of the Blue Angels in F11F-1 Tigers. This is the "short nose" version of the Tiger which the Blues only flew in 1957-58. They flew the F11F-2 from 1959-68. The F11F-2 became F-11B in 1962 and had a longer nose. I also have fond memories of seeing the Blue Angels at Moffett Field. I'm a bit younger because when I was a kid they were flying A-4 Skyhawks.

  • @saintrobbie375 The original Blues flew the F-6F Hellcat.

  • The Tiger sure was an attractive plane. Too bad the Super Tiger with the J79 never made it up to production.

  • I would love to see the Bearcats doing the show, the only piston group :)

  • Thank you sir..........

  • @1:14 sweet Mopar...looks like 1959 Plymouth Fury

  • great footage thanks for sharing

  • Very nice footage. Now if only I could find some footage of the Super Tiger.
