Sadly, hard times have taken its toll on this once beautiful downtown.

  • My best friends and memories are from growing up in that town, when our family first moved in it was summer time, and every summer after that were the best days in all my life. If i ever have kids I will never drive them through there to say this is where dad grew up. Id rather just let my kids watch "gangland" or "teen moms" instead of subjecting them directly to it. Beautiful town turned dreary melting pot in a decade or less...Truly sad. I still have a spot in my heart for the place.

  • I grew up in Somersworth and it was always a working mans town but its quickly becoming a non-working mans town. I couldnt stand all the welfare and section 8'rs. Im tired of all the lazy people who say they cant find work. I started out in the shoe shops and bleachery . These were honest jobs on the way to better ones. The nose ringed, inverted baseball capped, tattoed, pitbull toting zombies living there now dont have the same work ethic. Gimme gimme gimme.

  • well i live in chicago

  • i live downtown somersworth. you are sooo right. the government need to give sommersworth a few mor grands, or we will have to change the name to scummersworth permanently.

  • I live less than a mile from downtown Somersworth and admit that I probably only go into town a couple of times a year. It has a lot of potential, but as long as the walmarts and targets are allowed in town it will never be met. Unfortunately those stores meet the economic demographic of this town.

  • The only part of Somersworth that continues to develop is on high street with walmart and target and others, unfortunately that has caused hard times on the local small businesses. But when the Mills were in operation and when GE employed more then a hundred people I bet Somersworth was a good place to live and not just a commuter town.

  • how sad..such a rich history, just swept away buy greed. i remember the somersworth i fell in love with. very-very sad.

  • no offense, but this video [in black and white]

makes somersworth look like the bronx
