@skierplaterandy These stepper motor drivers do not send anything back, and it's a parallel port. You need to be able to control all three motors at the same time, when you want to cut a perfect circle for example. You can't do that with a serial connection, unless you have PIC's interpreting the serial data which has to be buffered.
he prolly made it. all of the software that is telling the motor what to do is loaded into the chip(s) on top there, and it is just sending data back to the program via a serial connection. and he probably wrote a simple program (in visual basic or delphi or something) and it would take a serial input and display it on the screen. nothing really complex.
amazing!!! i have a lot of spepper motors but i dont have knowledge and controller for connect to pc :(, this motors are from Floppy, Printers, Cd-roms , Hard disk .. i have more than 50 of them , include six big ones of Old HP printers :), if you know how tu uses please send a message.
