Books of the Old Testament

Set to the primary song, this video is a tool to help children and adults learn more about the books of the Old Testament. All the books are listed in order and each book is highlighted when it is said. An image is also shown for each book depicting a major event or prophecy found in that book. A list of the images follows which can be used to discuss each book.

Genesis -- Abraham and Isaac
Exodus -- Moses and the burning bush
Leviticus -- Sacrifices symbolic of Christ
Numbers -- Moses and the Brazen Serpent
Deuteronomy -- The Ten Commandments (The Law is repeated)
Joshua -- The walls of Jericho
Judges -- Gideon and his men
Ruth -- Ruth gleaning in the field of Boaz
1 Samuel -- The Lord calls Samuel
2 Samuel -- David anointed king of Israel
1 Kings -- Elijah's contest with the priests of Baal
2 Kings -- Josiah hears the Law
1 Chronicles -- The Kingdom of David and Solomon
2 Chronicles -- The Temple of Solomon
Ezra -- Hebrew scrolls (Ezra was a great scribe and student of the Law)
Nehemiah -- Nehemiah prepares to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem
Esther -- Queen Esther preparing to see the king
Job -- Job listening to his three friends
Psalms -- Songs, many of which were written by David
Proverbs -- Many proverbs are believed to have been written by Solomon
Ecclesiastes -- Scholars believe Solomon authored this book
Song of Solomon -- Solomon and the Queen of Sheba
Isaiah -- Isaiah writes his prophecies about Christ
Jeremiah -- Jeremiah prophesying to King Jehoiakim
Lamentations -- Jeremiah lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem
Ezekiel -- Prophecy of The Book of Mormon and Bible (Ezekiel 37:15-20)
Daniel -- Daniel in the lions' den
Hosea -- Prophecy of Christ's triumph over death (Hosea 13, esp. verse 14)
Joel -- Joel 2:28-32 was part of Moroni's message to Joseph Smith (JS-H 1:41)
Amos -- The Lord will do nothing unless he first tells his prophets (Amos 3:7)
Obadiah -- We can be saviors on Mount Zion through temple work (Obadiah 1:21)
Jonah -- Jonah delivered from the great fish
Micah -- Foretold Christ's birth in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2)
Nahum -- Prophesied of Christ's second coming
Habakkuk -- The Chaldeans (Babylon) will destroy Judah
Zephaniah -- Foretold events preceding the second coming
Haggai -- Exhorts the people to rebuild the temple
Zechariah -- Jews shall see Christ's wounds in his hands and be converted
Malachi -- Elijah restored the sealing power to Joseph Smith (Malachi 4)

Looks great! I vote we throw this stuff in flash so they can do mouse overs to see the texts you produced at the bottom without having to take their eyes off of the pictures! Great work!

@arrowxcom That's a great idea, but more work :) My thinking was you'd learn the order of the books and the images would provide a discussion starter for each book, something you would do after viewing the video. But for a more interactive learning tool your idea would be great. In fact, I could include much more info. A good project for another time!

Nice video on the Books of the Old Testament! Great work. This is a great video to teach LDS children the books of the old testament. I especially like the picture of the prophet Amos!
