Bandersnatch checking out his new cage. This is a trial run for now, though as of this evening he seems to be taking to it well.

The cage is a 36x24x24 arboreal cage from PVC Cages, with a Pro-Products heat panel. Zoo Med Cork Tiles have been added to the back. Eventually I'd like to add the cork tiles to the sides as well, and use wood perches instead of PVC.

  • Would the 24X24X24 cage from pvc cages be Ok for an adult chondro full grown? Also what kind of chondro stays the smallest and is most friendliest and tame?

  • @MrWaveshredder I personally feel a 36x24x24 is the minimum for an adult chondro, but others successfully use 24x24x24 for adults (usually for males, I think, since they're smaller than females). But my males use every inch of their 36" cages when cruising at night, and I wouldn't want them in something smaller.

  • @MrWaveshredder Every snake is different, but males are generally smaller than females. For tamest, again, every snake is different, but all my chondros can be handled. Your best bet would be to look into a snake that's a yearling (or older) from a breeder, and ask them about the animal's personality before you buy. Babies are going to be snappy, and they're too delicate to really be handled (or sexed) before they're a year old anyway.

  • what kind of chondro is this

  • @pythons009 He's not any particular locale type. He's from a high yellow bloodline, though he's not high yellow himself. I purchased him as a yearling from Rico Walder (Signal Herp).

  • imagine that thing attack you it will cut the nerves from your hands forever and you cann't move your hand anymore

  • @redtreepython Heh. This particular snake is the calmest of all my chondros, has never even attempted to bite, and is the one I feel most comfortable letting others hold.

  • which put on top of terrarium to heat the room without being lapada Iv? very dry environment

  • awesome snake

  • Absolutely beautiful, they look so other worldly the way they move and their appearance is.

  • I like your combination of the naturalistic and basic elements of tank design. Colorful, yet functional.

  • I love your new setup! I have been thinking about those cages as well! I hope now that my 2nd huge burm cage is almost done that I can start working on upgrades to my aboreals! 10000stars on this!

  • Nice setup.

    What substrate are you using?

How often do you spray the enclosure?

I recently got my first Chondro 3 wks ago.

I Take her out for some exercise requently, she's never bitten or attempted to strike at all.
