Today, the 21st of December we officially celebrate the end of Autumn and the start of Winter. Not only that, Christmas is but 4 days away.
I'm sure in a lot of places where you guys are living it's already snowing. Snow is indeed a wonderful thing (for starters it's much better then this goddamn rain *sigh*), well, I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of snow, mainly because I don't see it very often myself, although, yes, I'd surely like to be able to see it more often, because, well it's beautiful.

This theme is one of those themes that make me want to scream to the heavens just how damn good ZUN is, no seriously, if we where to talk about perfect songs, this is one of the first ones that come to mind. The scenario, the melody, the progression, the sounds, the dominance of MIDI, the length, the scenario, the whole bloody thing, oh and did I mention the scenario? As ZUN states himself, "A wonderful place above the clouds..."; "There's
never been such a stratospheric (it's not that high) intrusion
with violent yet sorrowful music, has there?".

Not to mention that it's the number one most "Christmasy/Snowy" song there is. Yes, it happens to also be one of ZUN's calmest and most soothing songs. Talk about calming, it's more then a lullaby.

ARA didn't fail us here, he literally pulled out the essence out of the original in this arrange, especially that acoustic plucking in the intro (and the Phantom Ensemble reference at 3:56), the background noises, the everything. I heard the first song and noticed that it fit perfectly with the second one, so, voila here's a 2 in 1 update.
It's also been quite some time since I've uploaded some orchestra love, sorry for that, the piano compilation kept me occupied.

Also, for those who do not know, the chick in the second image is Lily White, the almost nonexistent midboss from stage 4 of PCB, before the Prismriver Sisters.

I was....waiting for this.

I had abstractly high expectations for the winter upload and guess what.

You didn't disappoint, quite the contrary. This seems almost magical to listen to, even better while looking outside at falling snow. (No snow here sadfaec)

It's not only that feeeling of winter that the "Capital of Flowers in the sky" portrays; it's reminiscent of better times - warmer times.

Especially this truly amazing arrangement is just incredibly melancholic and yet somehow peaceful. It is different from ZUN's original - his version just let you feel that the place you are in is warm and an escape from winter.

Both the original and the arrange are masterpieces.

Hope you'll be able to dig out something this mindblowing next winter.
