Remember that one video I uploaded a long time ago? A Nightmare in My Room: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6NuOib2bDA
Well that got me thinking that I could make another short horror film. This time, it's a little longer, and has more scares in it. (I hope.) I also went with a different idea. Instead of using an icon of horror, I used the fear of the monsters in the closet. I hope that you enjoy it. Tell me what you think.
Trivia:
-Took me two days to film/edit.
-The motivational poster on my desktop is a picture from "Creature from the Black Lagoon" which was the first horror movie I ever saw. That movie got me hooked onto this genre.
-At least 90% of the film I filmed by myself. The other 10% I got help from my sister.
-The song I was originally listening to was The Game by Disturbed.
-In order to film the first closet scare scene, I had to use a remote to start the camera and close the door from the inside. I did several takes to get the right one.
-I only held the camera for one shot that lasted for 0.25 seconds. I held the tripod with the camera on it for the other POV shots.
-My sister was only in two scenes. She was only seen for about 0.97 seconds.
-In the scene where my sister runs past the camera, I had to say "Now" in order for her to know when to run past. I muted the audio of me speaking out.
-The only other scene that my sister helped out with was the final scene. The final shot of the closet door slamming by itself was her laying on the floor and closing it. I had to stop the camera and allow her to crawl out of the shot before I zoomed out.
-For the two scenes my sister was in, she was wearing a simple "SCREAM" robe.
-I had to crouch down for the close-up of me looking over my shoulder after my sister ran by. This was because I filmed the hallway shot, and then simply zoomed in for the close-up. My face was cut in half, so I had to crouch down to get my full face in the shot. You can kind of tell when I start to open the door because I move funny.
-At the bottom of the stairway, you'll see a wall image of Jason Voorhees from "Freddy vs Jason". Above his head is a wall image of a sign that says: "Victim's Cabin" with an arrow pointing to the left.
-The monster scream you hear was actually me standing behind the closet doors and making a monster sound effect. I had to record that first and then edit it in with the final shot.
-When I get "pulled" into the closet, I scream. That scream was recorded later and edited in because the scream I originally made was very soft and wimpy. If you listen closely you can still kind of hear it behind the new scream.
-In the last shot before it blacks out, you should see my Michael Myers mask on my bed. I had to move it off of the shelf for the final shot.
