This is a film sequence from a late 1980's early 1990's TV show in Japan by the name of Daijobu Da. At the beginning of the video clip, the young man goes through the approximate dialogue, which is found in the original Michael Jackson video, including, "when it becomes a full moon...." (Japanese version = "mangetsu ni naru toh.....)

Then the transformation of the young man into a Japanese grandfather rather than a werewolf is humorous, and caricatures the common appearance of some old Japanese men who roam blissfully around in their gardens or on the streets in front of their homes in their white undies (...with a tan knit belly warmer which is supposed to provide some healthful protection). As a spoof of Michael Jackson's Thriller, it includes the proposal, the chase, a brief dance sequence in which the thriller melody is played on traditional Japanese instruments, and the conclusion in an abandoned house. An excellent example of how culture crosses over from one country to another.

  • OHNO, I thought I've been familiar enough with this ol'good henna_ojisan clip, but have never learned its connection with Michael's work. Very detailed explanation, great! Thanks! XD

  • Thank you very much for the words of appreciation. Seeing the real thing in Japan is also entertaining... even when the Japanese grandfathers don't dance

    ;-)

  • This is nuts! I was looking for the original American Thriller but this one I can watch without freaking out! It's funny!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Japanese TV program this came from was really off the wall funny.

  • its henna ojisan,, henna means weird,,the word hentai have lots in meaning,,either metamorphosis,,or pervert,,,hehe ,,kono nihon no banggumi yoku oboeta,,,furui kedo honto omoshiroi!

  • You are correct in all aspects. I think that this program was on in the late 1980's into the early 1990's. That makes it pretty old... but still honto ni omoshiroi!
