They got chased all the way to Beruit, and then the US marines came in and covered the exacuation of the PLO. After that, the Druze, Shiite, Lebanese Christians and Israelis shot at each other south of Beruit for years, and the Druze, Shiite, and Lebanese Army shot the whole city to pieces.
