what are some good, specific sites in southern california, like this, to look?

@Therebel3000 its 1 3/4 not 13/4

Everyone I ask says its illegal to detect for and dig for meteorites in most of the U.S. states... Can one of you guru's please address this? No entity including the BLM allows metal detecting or digging of artifacts so how does one get into this 'meteorite collecting'. Its be good to hear from a pro before another guy like me wastes 400 bucks on a metal detector that can only be used at a public beach or public park.

@meteorfright Yes, and illegal to collect.

Almost 20lbs? It said there that one weighed 13/4 pounds and the others totalled 18lbs! Maths FAIL!
