A short lesson on the importance of upper and lower neighbors when improvising. Be sure to check out my site for more free info: www.freewebs.com/swid441
Thanks swid. Some interesting stuff here. I was particularly taken by the example between 2.20 and 2.27 - the major run in bebop style. As I couldn't find a transcription of this run on your (swid's) website, I've transcribed it myself. Any one who's interested can download the transcription as a pdf.- its free. Check out Guides to Improvisation.
Actually if you go to this guys website he has the overtone series posted there "with sound track demo's". He also has many other tricks to the trade that will get you started on the right path. With his secrets I've been able to advance fairly quickly. Your results may differ, but this guy explains the little tricks like no other I've seen online. This video is a good example of that. I've purchased his material which he now has posted for free.People can't believe I'm only a year into this.
Hey, if you want great sound you must do long tones amongst other think. It is the single most important thing that you can do to improve your sound or as you put it "Sound Sweet". Another exercise you can do is overtones which will work wonders for your sound in a relatively short period of time. If you don't have this as part of your exercise you can forget about it. Seriously....nothing you do will sound right regardless of how hard you try. I'm telling you this because Im a beginner myself.
Great vid helped a lot and btw the website doesnt work
