  • So this guy read Michael Lewis' book Moneyball and thinks he understands the game of baseball (or softball in this case). You are an idiot sir. By the way, its the Oakland A's...not Angels.

  • yea this guy is an idiot... also in most softball leagues there is no hit by pitch...batting average is THE MOST important statistic

  • Statistically, reaching on an error DOES NOT increase a players OBP (On Base Percentage). The only things that contribute to OBP are hits, walks, and hit-by-pitches. Errors and fielder's choices do *not* contribute. There is no skill in reaching on an error. And, a fielder's choice frequently does more harm than good. Batting average is an important statistic when you balance it against the hitter's ability to avoid striking out.
