Great video to one of my all-time faves! Thanks!

This is Bill Parsons....was in response to Elvis going into the Army in 57-58. I played this constantly when I was a high school DJ.

@hwaj5300 Harry I guess that's why we are here. Have a great week. John.

Great tune..I had this 45 when I was a kid.....If I remember correctly Bobby Bare and Bill Parsons both recorded it, the other one is slightly slowere... this is the version I had...I thought it was Parsons but I may be wrong....

Just before he was drafted into the Army, he wrote a song called "The All American Boy" and did a demo for his friend, Bill Parsons, to learn and record. Instead of using the version Bill Parsons did later, the record company, Fraternity Records, decided to use the original demo recorded by Bobby Bare. The record reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, but they made an error: the singles' labels all credited the artist as being "Bill Parsons."
