i have a crompton greaves that buzzes like this when i used the dimmer, when i changed the dimmer to the regulator, it stopped producing sounds

It buzzes a lot, it might have the wrong type of speed controller (i.e. a lamp dimmer instead of a FAN speed controller)

@dickcheney6: It may be due to the 220v, as most fans here usually make the same buzzing sound:)

not sure, it's not in my house.
but these ceiling fans don't usually need oil, regular cleaning is great for them.
