Preaching the Gospel to Hundreds at Global Atheist Convention, Melbourne, Australia, 2012

The Global "atheist" convention in Melbourne, Australia was held from 13-15 April 2012. Key speakers included Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett and Dan Barker. During lunch break on Saturday, the atheists came outside by the hundreds to watch the street preachers, preaching the plain Gospel as a protest against atheism. This video features Forbes Morrison and Damien Gloury, from Adelaide. The video also features the strange appearance of a banana, a condemnation of Sydney catholic cardinal George Pell, and a lot of Christ's love for atheists!

How's this? I can prove God lied. In Gen 2:17 God said that Adam and Eve would die that day if they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In Gen 3:6, they both ate and DID NOT DIE. GOD LIED!! It wasn't an original sin...it was an original LIE.

With respect, If you knew theology, you would understand all men in Adam are spiritually dead & alienated from the life of God through sin. See Eph 2:1-2. Death is not merely physical, in fact, physical death is the consequence of spiritual death. Man was made to be indwelt by God's Spirit & God by nature is the essence of Life, so when Adam sinned the indwelling life and Presence of God left. God fulfilled on His warning. What is worse - physical death? Or spiritual separation from God?

What breaks my heart, is how arrogant some of my fellow atheists are. That chanting "Bullshit Bullshit Bullshit" was terrible, not to mention the banana. I would hope that atheists could act in a more mature manner, rather than than so childishly.

I think any sane atheist would agree with you that the behavior was childish, but the one filming this video was right in the thick of the preaching and heckling, whereas the hundreds of others behind just stood or sat and watched on, making conversation with their friends from time to time. So not all the atheists acted that way. The banana thing I admit gave me a good laugh!

They can't believe in something they cannot see. They don't understand what spiritual is and that the spirit realm is higher and above the physical realm. It's just not given to them to see but preachers are sent to them & the condemnation begins when they hear and reject the gospel of Jesus Christ. (ref John 3). Jesus wept over Jerusalem because He longed to gather them under His wings. Don't resist Jesus, hear and understand, receive & partake of His great love.

But can you blame some of them? Some of them are also anti-theists, they see the harm that religion can do (and rightly so). They have every right to be just as chidish as the religious. I mean, they go to an atheist convention to be what? To be pounded on by the theists. But sure, personally, I agree with you and I myself would just ignore them. I will say this, these Christians sure are passionate!
