If he has a legal birth certificate we can run him for president after a few more years.

@coolman9999uk Plus, don't assume things. My little guy is only 18 months. I don't think he knows much about numbers but he can recognize a letter very well and understands that they make different sounds and are put together to make words. He knows many letters by sight and can tell you some sounds without prompting and others with prompting. This child could very possibly know what a number is. Everyone has a different talent. Don't be so quick to underestimate children.

@coolman9999uk On the contrary. If memorization deals with a different part of the brain than problem solving then you should develop both as much as you can. Not focus on one and neglect the other. I would argue that rather than being irrelevant, memorization helps make problem solving faster and more efficient because the more information you have at your disposal, the less time you have to waste starting from scratch to solve a problem. Keep at it dad. Just make sure he's well rounded.

@wkm2a that might be the cutest baby EVER!!!!!!!

He is not even thinking in 2 and 3 as numbers.
HE just knows that when you say how much is 2 plus 3 he haves to say 5.
Once when I was a kiddy my father came to me and told me "You're saying it all wrong!!!!!!!"
And then I pissed off and said "Don't you see im saying it backwards!??" (Alphabet)
Of course I don´t remember that, but he says it's true.
Now I really can't say the alphabet backwards.
I think school made me more stupid. I was pretty smart before school.
FUCK SCHOOL! YAY 4 COLLEGE!!!

This is no different from saying, make a doggy noise. He's just being taught a response to a simple question. It's actually got nothing to do with maths. He doesn't even know what a number is probably. I'm not saying memorisation isn't good at his age, just that you should develop his problem solving and communication skills. Memorisation is just one part of brain function and something that's becoming increasing irrelevant in the modern world.

Memorizing is good for brain development. What's wrong with that? Repetition is how children learn. An idiot would know that!!!
