Huang Meihua 3of3

Huang Meihua lost both of her legs in the Sichuan Earthquake of 5/12/08. In these videos she is being fitted with her government-issued prosthetics at the Sichuan Prosthetics Factory. She has to drag her flesh down into the prostheses to be held there with suction and friction, which is a very old technology that is very uncomfortable and unworkable for burn patients with tender scar tissue. HandReach is working to create a mobile prosthetics unit that can support burn patients and amputees like Meihua with much more comfortable custom prosthetics fitting and much better rehab therapy.
