@saltburner2 Thank you very much !!

The film was made in Berlin in February/March 1930, soon after the premiere of his first film 'Das Dirnenlied' [Ich glaub' nie mehr an eine Frau], which was made during the mornings in November 1929 when he was singing Das Land des Lachelns at the Metropol Theatre.

@artiranmor -His father was Jewish, and that led to his expulsion popular as he was.

Aus welchen Jahr stammt denn diese Aufnahme ?
-
Yet another wonderful example of Tauber's exemplary singing and incomparable musicianship.

Dear Richard...thank you..your one of a kind.. to those
of us who have certain tastes... your family.
-
And he had really to leave his "fatherland" as he was perued as a jew by the fascists..... too sad...

Only once in a generation a tenor like such is granted to mankind.
Always one of Tauber's audition arias, he eventually recorded it for Parlophone in 1945.
This is a clip from his second film: Das lockende Ziel made in 1930. The pianist here is Paul Dessau, a famous composer and conductor.

Mein Gott! Listen 2 him! He sounds this good "live" then w/out all our new audio equipment! Singers of 2day who have these equipment when they film their recitals or even opera houses who film the "live" performance in HD these days do not sound as good as Tauber on this "mono-live" performance:) Just amazing Mr Tauber!!!
