The Democratic Party candidate should have filed a court action against the city clerk for illegally counting 300 defaced ballots containing handwritten X markings in the area on the ballot reserved for voter intention which is illegal according to state law and local ordinances regulating elections. This would have disqualified the 300 late green voters changing the election outcome so that the republican loses and dems can ignore green issues, pending an appeal with the State Supreme Court
Let's not get caught up in the greens and the republicans, etc. in this example. It could be voting for candy bars or cakes or your favorite movie.
The premise is 300 additional voters came and voted and their votes had totally unintended consequences that no other voting scheme used in the US has. It would have been better if theyJUST STAYED HOME!
Humorous concept that some 82 GREENS would be thinking there was a fiscal conservative to vote for as a REPUB. Even more interesting to think that the busload of GREENs would get another chance to vote, especially in this duopolistic system. Point remains well made though - make the DEMs go GREENER!! Oh yeah, and forget about IRV because it is NOT really transparent. Too much "black box" methodology involved. Give me Paper Ballots & random audits!!
Very interesting. Thanks for this.
