The son of the 40th president of the United States and author of "My Father at 100" reflects on life with Republican icon Ronald Reagan and describes the complicated, yet loving relationship they enjoyed even as his own political views veered decidedly to the left. Reagan is interviewed by Phyllis Pfeiffer, publisher of the La Jolla Light newspaper for the Revelle Forum at the Neurosciences Institute, sponsored by UC San Diego Extension. Series: "Revelle Forum at the Neurosciences Institute" [2/2011] [Public Affairs] [Show ID: 20665]
Ron Reagan was the only man to interview Charles Manson, and capture who the man was. If you watch that interview, Reagan is very calm, level headed, compassionate and fair. Manson for the first time, came across as the back alley swindler he was. People like Geraldo Riviera had interviewed Manson and called him evil, and sensationalized him. Mansons responses to tabloid talk show hosts came across well for him. Ron Reagan gave Manson a fair open forum to be himself, and Manson self destructed.
