This is just a little experiment I did. Abyss is well known for having awful load times on the world map, so I figured I'd try running the game on HDLoader. My PS2's lens will act up at random times and refuse to read games (sometimes even mid-game, making me waste tons of time), so I ripped the game to my HD from my legal copy.

Turns out at the load times are almost completely eliminated via HDLoader.

I highly suggest this to anyone who has access to Free McBoot (look for videos of it on here) and a spare hard drive.

P.S. I haven't played this game in over two years, so I kind of forgot how to play. Also, this is the first American version of a Tales game I've played since Vesperia, so I got the buttons mixed up again.

  • holy crap this makes abyss playable

  • I wouldn't go THAT far, but it certainly makes the game better. More time is spent actually playing the game rather than waiting for it to load constantly.

  • Nice, I might do this instead of running it off of ESR + FMCB. How'd ToD:DC be off of HDLoader? Some of those load times tick me off.

  • I have to run that off HD Loader, too. I've had it freeze a few times, but nothing major. Other than that, it works fine.

  • Wow that was certainly fast.

  • Yeah, there's no load time at all when it's run off the hard drive, even on the world map.

I probably won't even use my legal copy of the game anymore if I decide to play this again.

  • Sup Tetsuo, wow, I was looking for this, and I never expected you to have this video.

Guess I need that network adapter more than ever now. I have the hard drive all set up and ready, just no network adapter. This is awesome.

  • @tetsuo9999 How does it not make it playable? I haven't played this game before, but IT OBVIOUSLY DOES MAKE IT PLAYABLE. At least w/ where load times are concerned.

  • and where you download it?

  • is that game cool?
