  • Can you hear? Galt was sequencing! This man probably had no idea he was creating pure hip-hop when he started doing this... because he hadn't invented it yet.

Thank the good lord for Galt MacDermot; you wanna sample him so bad... but he already did it best.

I'll still sneak some samples, though, anyway. :P

  • this already is hip hop...

  • merci nova :)

  • I came here looking for samples but this one is too good.

  • @SkinneeWhite

when I heard my first track of him, i had a hip hop feeling two

  • WTF? This cant be from 1966!! Unbelievable!

  • @SkinneeWhite Blues - Funk/soul - Hip-Hop, the transition was smooth, in fact, they were the same kinda people!

  • this is now the 100th video in my favorites list.

  • que sera wax tailor ripped this

  • Just don't sample it, this would be a crime.

  • My goodness... James Brown AND Galt MacDermot singlehandedly crafted hiphop as we know it now. This has so much DNA with hiphop - and lesser known ones, say Madlib, MF DOOM or even Flying Lotus - that this sounds fresh even today. Wow.

  • Galt MacDermot is the Grandfather of Hip-Hop.
