Why would you put corn in it? Corn is incredibly hard for dogs to digest and what can be digested is a high carb low nutrient filler. The rest of the recipe looks good though, I might substitute the corn for brown rice and try it myself.
Dogs and cats (not just small dogs) live well past their twenties, bu lack of nutrition by poor dog food companies makes it hard for them to get in their teens. If you want to keep your pet alive either use homemade meals, carefully balanced for good nutrition & with good ingredients or use Harmony Farms (17.5 ibs for about 19$-22$), Blue Buffalo, Halo, The honest Kitchen. Look at the life's abundance site for more info
There's a lot of quacks out there who want to desperately believe their cute doggies are not carnivores despite everything about their physical anatomy clearly showing they are. As a vegan, I have encountered tons of them. I'm sure this book of recipes and the vet who approved them would fall under this category, but he (the poster) is just following it. Feeding your pet this recipe too often would almost certainly guarantee problems with their pancreas by the time they get old.

I know this sounds dumb, but what is wheat germ and why does it need to be in pet food?
