New Album for you to Review! Christmas Music

The Good Shepherd Band is excited to announce a release party for their new Christmas album, "Repeat the Sounding Joy!" hosted by the Pourhouse Cafe, 314 East Kirkwood, on Friday, 11.11.11. at 7pm. The event is free and open to the public. This will be the first chance to purchase the album.

Kevin Flick, founder of the indie music journal, Puddlegum—whose work has been featured by VH1, Reuters and Rolling Stone—says, "This is a compelling Christmas album, revisiting classics and introducing new songs with rich instrumentation. It's absolutely beautiful."




A free preview track can be downloaded at the band's website: http://goodshepherdband.com The whole album will be available there for streaming on November 11th. Tracks from their two previous albums, "Wake Up Sleeper" (2009) and "Glorious Things" (2011) have played on local radio stations Spirit 95 and WFHB.

Asked to describe the sound of the album, keyboardist, Aaron Jones remarked, "There's really nothing like it. At one moment you might be reminded of Coldplay and the next of Philip Glass. It's been exciting to approach these great carols with fresh ears—bringing our own popular musical influences as well as classical training from the IU Jacobs School of Music. I hope everyone will give it a listen." Other influences listed on the band's facebook page include Wilco, Arcade Fire, Bob Dylan and 'really old hymnals.'
