Boyds' Gunstock Industries Founder and President, Randy Boyd, gives you a first hand information on how to sand and finish a Semi-Inlet or an Unfinished gunstock.
NOTE: Due to the many variations among models and tolerances that factories may or may not routinely adhere to, some minor fitting may be required, even on our fully finished drop-in parts. Although seldom, you must be willing to make these changes. IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE MAKING ALTERATIONS PLEASE CONTACT A LOCAL GUNSMITH.

  • great video. i have a remington 788 in .243 and am looking to redo the finish in hi-gloss. how far should i follow this video before i switch to the hi-gloss finish? also, any other tips particular to the 788? thanks.

  • @jtb10199 I think we could better explain if you called in. Please call our sales dept. at 605-996-5011. Thanks!

  • hey i have a question.. i was told by a friends that the new boyds stock i got would have to be beded for it to be strong enough to shoot my 8mm

  • @BALIJABOY Hello, thanks for asking; it's never a bad idea to glass bed your stock, it will give you the best accuracy.

  • Nothing but respect for Boyd's... I read a story recently about the M1 Garand Stock they made for Darrel "Shifty" Powers (of Band of Brother's Fame). The Garand Stock had the Airborne emblem, Curahee Crest, etc engraved into it. A very well-thought idea and certainly worthy of praise. Google "a rifle for Shifty" to see the whole story. I just finished refinishing a stock for a ww2 Trench Gun. I cheated a bit and used red oak stain and 2 coats of Linseed oil (matches my Garand exactly)

  • @ChrsGuit Thank you!!!

  • Larry Potterfield is better!

  • Followed the procedure as laid out in the video and my SS Evolution stock came out beautiful. (Sky Laminate) Everywhere I take it people stop, stare, and want to hold it. Usually they are intrigued by the SS Evolutions uniqe shape, but they soon compliment me on the finish. Thanks for the great tutorial! I've got a video on my channel of me shooting my finished SS Evolution Ruger 10/22.
