Knuckleball Premiere with Tim Wakefield, R.A. Dickey, Jim Bouton, & Charlie Hough

Matt Ufford checks out the screening of "Knuckleball!", a documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival. "Knuckleball!" is the story about the handful of pitchers forced to resort to the lowest rung on the credibility ladder of pro baseball. The film follows Tim Wakefield and Mets pitcher RA Dickey through the 2011 Major League baseball season as they face struggles unique to the knuckleballer alone.

It's actually ok if the knuckleball makes one revolution as opposed to not spinning at all. It is said that the knuckleball moves as such because of the currents that move through the seams. How do the breaks vary? Well that's the million dollar question. IMO, I think R.A. Dickey is the closesy ever to figuring it out.

I'm 13 1/2 and can throw a knuckle ball from almost any distance. Mastered it over the last 18 months... The stitches dont move whatsoever all the way in from 60' to the plate. It dances on the way in. I dont know how- but it floats up, down and side to side---sometimes all in one throw ! Thanks Tim Wakefield- I studied your technique. Sorry about breaking all your records one day. My Dad says retirement is over rated- please come back !

Matt, trust me, as someone who knows first hand. Throwing a knuckleball is wicked difficult.
