Now, the back tress, side tresses, and front tresses are completed. Then, the hairdresser starts working on the chignon. In this video, two additional hair tufts are added. One is placed on the upper side of the root and the other, on the underside, to sandwich the root. The hairdresser wrapped a slip of red paper called "Takenaga" around the root.

  • She is not doing a great job at all! sorry but she needs more classes:(

  • @Oshidorinohina

Of course, I know she is not a geisha. Actually, this coiffure is not for a geisha but for a bride.

Anyway, I checked the net and learned that the term "geisha girl" is different from "geisha." The geisha is a professional Japanese entertainer who has skill of dancing, singing, etc. while the geisha girl is a Japanese prostitute during the period of the Allied Occupation of Japan. They are completely different! Thank you for pointing out my incorrect use of the word.

  • @Ichiro0402Nakano

    this isn't a geisha - just a model

and the term 'geisha girls' is incorrect, not to be a poop about it.

but yes maiko (geisha in training) get a quarter sized bald spot sometimes- some maiko never do, others have thinning in the area - while maiko who go all five years of training do gain the so called 'medal'

when they become Geiko (geisha) they move to a wig, but on regular days they pull their hair back loosely into a bun to hide the spot. or to show maturity.

  • @Ichiro0402Nakano oh gosh that sucks:/! well it's never good to brush your hair that much:o

  • @MrRookitty

I hear, Geisha girls will eventually have a thin or bald part on the top of their heads because they have always their hair pulled.

  • @Lindethiel

Yes, there were so many extensions and I was also surprized.

  • My shock and awe goes up and up with every hair extension... And she also looks to be in a bit of pain. Owwie.

  • @Ichiro0402Nakano haha getting all that wax pulled through dry hair and having to sit still during it is very tiring:p. My sister likes to torture my head with hair styles like this so i would know after a while of pain you just get very tiredc:.
