As you may have anticipated after watching Day 1, the challenge Gabriel and Stacey faced is still a problem. The arrival of Antonio Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, in N'djamena continues to restrict the number of flights that can take Gabriel and Stacey where they want to be - Abeche. Watch Guterres speak at a press conference in Day 2 video: http://StopGenocideNow.org

N'djamena is in Western Chad, Abeche is in Eastern Chad. The two are separated by about 560 miles (900 km) of desert - it is a 15-17 hour drive according to Ali, our aid worker friend. That is, if no conditions pose a risk to the journey. But according to a report from the World Food Programme which takes into account possible risks, the journey can take up to 3 days by car. Both Gabriel and Stacey are considering renting a car and driving across the desert, if they cannot secure a flight soon. Hear their comments in Day 2 video at: http://StopGenocideNow.org

Not only is this an obstacle, it is something that concerns everyone on the team. The roads will be tougher than imagined and security will be virtually nonexistent. We need your support to get through this - and we want to hear it!

Here's how - post a blog so Gabriel and Stacey know they're not alone:

  • As always, thank you for posting these - it's mind boggling, but I lear so much from each one.

  • You bet kenrg, sorry for the late response the YouTube posting system has been acting up for me...again. Glad you are tracking this...what Gabriel and Stacey are doing is simply amazing to me.

  • I hope you did not take the bus. Unless things have improved considerably since the 80s, the bus ride takes 5 days! (breakdowns, weather, etc.) Forget the schedules.

  • in my opinion, one vid needs to be made to explain what we need to do in order to get U.N. involved if that is in fact what we want to accomplish, the viewers that are being reached have a lot of legwork to do in order to understand the meaning behind all of this.
