  • There is so much rare footage here I've never seen. Some only seen briefly from the news the day it happened. Good work!

  • A couple points: 1)The Bay Bridge is STILL being rebuilt, on the 20th anniversary of the quake, and it isn't scheduled to be completed until at least 2013. 2)The last quote "Where the hell is the mayor." I'm not sure we can count on Gavin during a disaster, since his entire tenure has been one.

  • Interesting fact: The Winchester Mystery House still has some 1906 earthquake damage to certain interior walls.

  • minute 7:15, the pink "earthquake house" is at Summit, on Christmas tree hill, near hwy17. I tossed paper to them. So many people got new homes: a 1500sqft ranch house turned into 3000sqft+

  • fuck you all who are focusing on the damn politics why dont you fucking focus on the facts that hundreds and thousands died because of this shit!!!!! dont fucking explain your political view because nobody really gives a fuck!!!!!! what the fuck are we FOX NEWS??? OR CNN WHAT THE FUCK???

  • That poor woman who lost her baby :( You all should stop focusing on politics and remember the victims of this earthquake

  • FDR was president when the original bay bridge was constructed, the biggest socialist around, and the entire thing was built in only 2- 3 years, so you're not making sense.

  • Who do you think corrupts the contractors?

    Unions.

Remember what the U in USSR stood for.

  • Actually I put more blame on the corrupt contractors who give low bid estimates and then drag out the entire process to make more money. But I do agree that the unions have a somewhat stronghold on the system are are quite corrupt in that they are demanding more money for less work. To blame just "liberals" is quite cliche and tired, though.

  • That's what happens when you let liberals run things, pure inefficiency.

You can't let the unions and socialists build a bridge.

  • That estimate of 20 days to get the Bay Bridge repaired didn't hold up. It took 2 months. Still pretty remarkable for the magnitude of the damage.
