"We're in a good position from a performance and power perspective. Our 65-nm is really beating the comparable Intel 45-nm products today. In Q4, we get to Shanghai that gives 45-nm on the server. So that lead that we have in performance and power savings gets increased even more as we get in the back-end of the year... overall we expect performance [for Shanghai], depending on the workload, to be anywhere from 15-30% [better than Barcelona]", said John Fruehe, AMD's Worldwide Business Development Manager for the Server and Workstation Business.

  • I dont understand why all these Intel fans want AMD to go under. If you look at things from an Economical point of view, AMD is a non-profit organization. I dread the day of total Intel monopoly.

  • @Tutuze4armenia Exactly. Way to go. That´s what´s keeping AMD alive. They give their customers what they´re asking for. Intel is just TOO EXPENSIVE for that little more performance.

  • @abaj006 I support AMD cause it´s american, it´s a good competition and I hate MONOPOLies on the market.

  • amd does not pay off companies to use their cpu's on mainstream computers lol.. amd does not have something called DRM on you cpu which allows intel to track you microsoft has this too.. lol if you are smart you use AMD... unless u don't mind getting ur privacy invaded :D and if you are making a medium to high end computer you want an amd.. because it is cheaper runs almost as fast as intel and is unlocked most of the time :D you can't beat amd in price-performance. I am an amd Fan SUE ME! :D

  • @abaj006: wtf... amd a non profit organization??? LOL leave the crackhead comment at home

  • hi hi

  • Hi, Uncle John it's Kristen! My Mom didn't understand one word of what you said!

  • I think it's unlikely that businesses will allow AMD to go under. Too many people remember the Intel monopoly, which was truly horrible for business.

That doesn't mean AMD won't go bankrupt in the process, and wipe out shareholder value.

From my point of view, the "safe" play, is to purchase equal dollar amounts of Intel and AMD. If AMD goes through bankruptcy and restructuring, you can expect INTC to double and you get your money back. If AMD survives, it's probably a 10 bagger.

  • thats right.......I can still remember when I bought my first PC.... it was a INTEL 80386sx20 20.1 Mhz with 2 Mb RAM and a "SUPER" VGA card 800x600 and with a 41 Mb HDD, a 14" Monochrome "high res" Monitor and a LEXMARK 9dot matrix......... Total Price in 1989: Dkr=19.700 (3,727.60 US $ or 2,644.08 £) of those 19.700 Dkr. The Price of the INTEL CPU was about 8.900 Dkr. Allmost half of the total price........If Intel was to regain monopoly a P4 dualcore would be 160-170% of the price today

  • Who said AMD WILL go?
