The Supreme Court ruled that Congress shall have the power to take works already in the public domain, back out and grant them copyright status again. So if you're a publisher, an educator, an orchestra conductor that's relied on certain works to do your job, and have been able to use them freely, Congress can now change that. So what does this decision mean for the future and how far reaching could it be? Christina Gagnier, intellectual property attorney and partner at Gagnier Margossian LLP weighs in.

  • they are infringing on freedom of speech and information >:(

    IDIOTS

  • If information is public domain, it is owned by the public. Isn't reapplying a copyright to it essentially theft from the American people?

What's next? Can I just decide that Pythagorus' Theorem is now mine? Do I get to extort mathemeticians every time they use it?

This is just legalised theft and extortion.

  • european copyright laws (at least for music) are far more fair and reasonable in regard to term.after sixty years your work is now public domain.that means you are in all probability DEAD so the question of intellectual property is moot.intellectual property cannot be inherited by worthless children.let them create for themselves.the same goes for worthless corporations .why should edgar fuckin' bronfman own you in perpetuity?

  • @Underoathalex12 She is on tv...these clips ARE from that tv program...

  • You need a tv program

  • 0:56 I've had too much botox and now I can't smile.

  • Copyrights expire for a reason.

  • This is the worst thing any politician can ever sugest! This law is the worst retroactive bulshit, something that should never be passed in any democratic country. It hamperes freedom of speach although not in a straight way.

  • OK fine then. All the churches should pay the Jews for the bible and all the Universities and Nations should pay the Greeks for ANYTHING Greek. INCLUDING Democracy ! As Hilary Clinton suggested.
