It was 1984, Id just bought the soundtrack to Breakdance The Movie, and was scheming with a mate of mine as to how we could buy some lino and start making money busking at Circular Quay (Sydney), says Kid Kenobi. But breakdancing with shorts over his track pants at dinner parties was as close as he ever got until now. Breakers Revenge 2010 is KKs ode to his attempts at buying lino care of some classic B-Boy, breaks, samples, and riffs (coupled of course with his current penchant for rude basslines and humungous breakdowns).
On remix duties comes the Blaze, the Drum, the Cup, the Cut, and the Roc. Blaze Tripp turns in a mental rave bassline monster, the Drumattic Twins create an amazing revenge of the breakbeats, man of the moment DCUP turns in one of his funkiest remixes ever (no, were not exaggerating, this tune was made for the man), Cut La Roc takes us back to the roots of it all with a proper old school B-Boy jam, and our own Canadian homie J-Roc turns out a good groovin bassline hip hop monster.
Lino time!
