Trip to South India - part 1

This is a journey which my wife and I made to the southern parts of India in the autumn of 2007. Along this first leg of our trip we made a land fall in Bombay including the mysterious Elephanta Island, after which we took the train to the southern most part of Maharashtra where we stayed at a small "off the beaten track" tourist resort, then eventually passing on by bus to various places in Goa a and then, after a week or two arriving at the holy town of Hampi in Karnataka. Soon enough we took the train to Bangalore, then a one days ride by bus to Mysore where we attended the annual Dassera festival which was one of the high lights of our trip and beyond all our wildest expectations!
